How far in advance should I book my session?
Depending on the season, I may be booked out several weeks ahead, so it's best to get with me and reserve a date a few weeks before you want to have your session.
How long will my session last?
Most of my sessions last around 2 hours, but can be up to 3.
Where will it be?
When we meet before your session, we will discuss things like your personal style and what you like. I try to shoot near the Rainsville and Fort Payne area, but have also shot in Fyffe, Collinsville, Boaz, Little Mountain Marina, and other areas in and around DeKalb County. I match our shoot location to your own personal style, so wherever we need to go to find the perfect place, that's where we'll shoot!
I know what kind of look I want, but I’m not sure what locations to go to in order to achieve it. Can you suggest options?
I would love to work together with you to get exactly what you want out of your session with me.
What should we do to prepare for the session?
A big factor in how your portraits will turn out is your choice of clothing and accessories. We need to work together to choose pieces that will photograph well but not distract from the most important thing in the photos, you! I will also suggest that you not go for a new hair cut or style right before your session, and also make sure to avoid sunburns and peeling skin.
What comes with the packages?
I offer a few different choices of session collections. They come with print credits, products and prints, and discounts.
If it rains, do you have a studio to shoot at?
While I do have access to a studio space, on location, natural light portraits are my style. In the event of a rainy day, we will reschedule your session for as soon as possible.
I’m shy. Won’t it be awkward having my family stare at me while the shoot is going on?
I always ask that one parent or guardian be present at a session with a senior, but would never suggest that you bring your whole family. If you are uncomfortable with a parent watching you pose, we can work something out so that they can meet up with us when the session is over.
Who all should come to the shoot?
At least one parent or guardian. The fewer people, the easier and quicker the session will go.
I want my photos taken in different weather season or school season (e.g. homecoming). Is that an option?
I would be happy to add on mini sessions to your initial portrait session. I think having a wide variety of looks is a great idea, especially if you plan having an album.
If you do post “sneak-peeks” online on your social network site, do you have to post mine?
I typically post one sneak-peek a few days after our shoot, then several after your order is completed so that others can see your awesome portraits. If you are not comfortable having your photos shared online, please do let me know at our shoot.
How do we go about securing our session?
You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 256.899.9269 and we will get you in my calendar.
The products listed on your site are different from others I’ve seen. Is there any way to get different products?
Absolutely! If you have seen something offered by another photographer or studio that you do not see on my website, just ask about it! I want you to get exactly what you need.
When is the best time of year to schedule my session?
Most seniors want their portraits done in the Fall, and other than the obvious natural beauty, the weather is awesome in the Fall. Make sure you check out yearbook deadlines, as well.
What time of day is best for a portrait session?
I always do shoots late in the evening, a couple of hours before sunset. If you'd rather have a morning shoot, we would have your session just after dawn and shoot as the sun rises. These times of day have the prettiest light.
What happens if you’re sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day?
If I am ill or something urgent comes up on the day of our shoot, I will notify you immediately so that we can reschedule as soon as possible.
How will we know how to pose?
You don't have to worry about this at all! It's my job to make sure you look good in your photos! I have done lots of studying on this topic.
How many outfit changes can we have?
I suggest no more than 3. It might also be a good idea to layer so that you can add or take away for a new look without having to change clothes!
I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it?
Yes! If there is anything about yourself that you don't want to showcase, we can cover, camouflage, and pose around it so you are comfortable and happy with how your portraits look.
Can this session be done at multiple locations?
Yes, it can. I will suggest that your locations be near each other. The more we are traveling during your session, the less time we are shooting. Travel time between locations is counted in your session time.
I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white?
I love black and whites, too. I include a black and white version of every image at your reveal.
Is there an extra fee for creative edits?
If you need something more complicated than basic retouching, yes.
How many photos will I receive?
I will usually have around 40 images to show you at your ordering appointment.
Do you offer professional retouching (e.g. zit removal)?
Yes, I do! I fully retouch all of your portraits.
How long does it take to get the photos back?
we will schedule a date 2 weeks after your session to get together and order your prints and products. Orders take approximately 2 weeks to come in.
What should I wear?
What if I wear glasses?
If you feel that you need to wear your glasses in your portraits, it may be a good idea to have your optometrist remove your lenses for our session or ask if you can borrow a set of frames that do not have lenses in them.
What if my braces are still on at the time of the shoot?
If you will not be able to wait until you have your session after your braces are removed but you don't want to have your portraits with them showing, we can special order retouching that removes the braces from your gorgeous smile!
What senior products do you offer?
I offer custom signature boards, albums, yearbook ads, grad announcements, and more
Do you have any samples of your senior sessions?
I do! Head over to my Blog for past senior sessions to inspire you for yours!
Can the products you offer be customized?
Yes, they can. I love making custom designed products for clients.
What if I don’t like my portraits?
If you are not happy with the end result of your session, we will talk about what exactly you are not happy with and re-shoot if that is what is needed to get you the portraits you want.
How much do senior sessions end up costing?
Sessions with prints and products range from $350-$1295+.
What days are you available to shoot senior sessions?
At this time, I am available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
Can I order more prints/products later?
You sure can! After your in person ordering appointment, you will have access to an online gallery to order from at any time. You can even order from your custom client app!
Why do I need to come to the viewing center to order the prints/products?
To make ordering quick and simple and to help you decide on what products best suit your needs, I do all my reveals and ordering in person with you.
Why is your logo on all the photos? Will the logo be on the prints?
My logo is on the online images so that anywhere the photo is shared, even if I'm not tagged, everyone knows whose work it is. This also helps prevent theft of the images online by another photographer. Yes, people will actually save a photo, upload it somewhere else and take credit for creating it. Don't worry, there will be no logos on your prints.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept cash and check.
What other session fees or taxes are charged?
A sales tax is added to your total.
